Big Jock's 4th Semi Annual New York Dive Bar Tour

Right folks, Big Jock has been on the blower and Big Jock isnae happy. And when Big Jock isnae happy heads will normally roll. However being the generous fucker he is, he has humbly allowed us to put together Big Jocks Tremendous 4th Semi-Annual New York Dive Bar Tour on the strict mandate of 'BACK TO BASICS'. Big Jocks popular with the ladies and he's had many lovers, there's a good chance your wife is one of his cast offs, but when it comes to drinking he's a mans man. Therefore any bar which will sells Corona or Martini is strictly off limits. Big Jock has spent more nights at expensive hostess clubs watching catwalk models earning an extra buck lap dancing for him than you've had hot dinners. The last thing he wants to see is some flabby barmaid performing tricks for the tourist crowds - Coyote Ugly theme bars are out.

Big Jocks Tremendous 4th Semi-Annual New York Dive Bar Tour is getting back to
basics. He's told us to sort it out or he'll "get Trump in to run the whole fucking thing". Biggest shiteholes in New York - nothing more!

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR DETAILS - KEEP ALL OF JUNE FREE COS JOCK WILL DECIDE FIT SUITS HIM BEST AND YOU BETTER MAKE TIME FOR HIM.

Big Jock will be in China putting together a large deal to provide the windows to the Bejing Olympic stadiums however for us mere mortals there is a BJT4SANYDBT strategy meeting starting around 3-4pm at Cheap Shots on May 17th. All welcome.

Feel free to pass this message onto friends and enemies.

3rd Avenue @ 12th Street

The game is on Setanta Premium Pay-per-view so there will be a cover charge of $10 per person (which goes to Setanta).

Will be in New York that week so looking forward to watching the game at Nevada Smith's with the NYTA.
What is the nearest subway station to Nevada Smith's ?
Union Square / 14th St. N,R,4,5,6,L lines.
Do Nevadas Smiths allow kilts?
Absolutely - Kilts welcome.

Tartan Day

A quick message about Tartan Day ... we'll put some info up soon on the various Tartan Day events. It will be all the same fun as previous years and we'll post the details as soon as we have them.

The parade is on Saturday, April 5th this year and leading the parade this year will be Lawrence Tynes, footballer of the other kind with the Giants. Not often (actually never) that we've had a Scot in the Superbowl!

tartanweek.com has the full program, which will continue to fill in over the next few months

When do you need the numbers for the parade?
Looking forward to it!

Scottish Bands Playing NYC

Not sure if all visitors to this site notice that we list all upcoming Scottish gigs in the city (down on the left).

Well this is a bit geeky, but you can now subscribe to this as an RSS Feed.

You can then get updates in Google Reader, Google Homepage, My Yahoo etc.

Dive Bar Tour Reminder

December 8th, 2007

Met a few scots in a bar last night who are going to this, i'll be going, looks awesome!!!

More Scotland v Italy news

More word in from the Nevada Smith's management:

Any pipers out there planning on coming out?
This is going to be awesome!
Realistically, when will the line start to get crazy busy?
For all Scotland fans in the Boston area, The Banshee in Dorchester will be showing the game.
Anybody know where to go watch the game in Los Angeles?
For Scotland fans in the CT area (who don't fancy a day trip to the big smoke) - Tigin pub in Stamford is showing the game.
anyone know if nevadas will be able to get scottish commentry on?

One thing McPherson feels the Italians should fear is the noise from the Tartan Army when the teams emerge from the tunnel at a packed Hampden. McPherson, pictured below right, believes the Scottish fans' backing could give McLeish's men the edge. "I think sometimes that other countries can maybe underestimate the power of the Tartan Army," he said. "The noise and the energy that they can generate is just second to none and I know what the atmosphere can be like when you are sitting in the stands as a supporter."
Check this out folks, sent a tingle up my spine and a laugh.

Kinsale on 3rd Ave (b/w 93 & 94) has the game on RAI, no cover charge (allegedly)
Boston: Cafe De La Sport in the North End will be showing the game....might be a couple of italians there...
For anyone in Central Texas looking for a place to watch the game, Fado's in Austin is now showing the game.
anyone know a queens (sunnyside, woodside wherever) pub showing the match? thanks.
The game is on in the Parlour (86th and Broadway) as well. Nevada Smiths will be full of England fans watching Russia beat Isreal.
The Parlour only shows Scotland games:

a: when its free
b: when it suits them.

it's the Daily Record equivalent of a Pub
Nevada Smiths does not show any domestic or European games involving Scottish clubs. It only shows International games that are on Setanta USA or Free. The only reason that the game is on both upstairs and down in Nevada's is because there is no England game tommorrow. Scotland fans will always take third preference when there is an England or Ireland game on.
third preference is better than nothing! I posted some history on the e-mail list earlier and I'll leave it at that. Enjoy the game wherever you watch it.
not rubbin it in guys buck i was at the match and cant believe we didn get a penalty or that mcfadden hadscored that outstretched one at the end of the match but u know what i doesnt matter in my opinion over the 90 we played the better and i will never forgo one of the most amazing atmosphere and iv been to old firm game that rangers won the league at parkhead and the italy game was something else and cant wait till world cup draws made and one more thing com on coatia wednesday
Props to Scotland for a great match. I was watching the game on the tele (RAI) here in the colonies (US) and the atmosphere was electric. The boys should be proud! Good luck in the WC 2010 qualifiers.
