How to find a bar showing the game?

On your travels when the big game is on? Here are a few tips on how to find a bar showing the game:
  • Check the Contact Your Local Tartan Army page at TA of NA and see if there's a local contact then get in touch.
  • If it's close to match day, check out soccertv.com to see which channels (if any) will be showing the game. This will help narrow the search and will help when you speak to individual bars. Games are typically carried by (in order of likelihood) Setanta USA (their regular cable/satellite channel) , Setanta Premium (their Pay-Per-View service), the Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN or an international channel (such as RAI for Italy games).
  • If Setanta Premium is the channel, then you can search on the Setanta website to see which bars subscribe to this service. Phone or email around to see who's picking up the Scotland game. Even if the game is not showing on Setanta Premium, searching the bars who subscribe is a pretty good way of find the bars that are serious about showing football.
  • The next tip is to try finding the local bars that show Rangers or Celtic games as these often show Scotland games. You can find this out by searching the North America Rangers Supporters Associations (NARSA) and North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Clubs (NAFCSC) sites.
  • Another option is try soccerbars.com , which lists football-friendly places around the world. A few emails or phone calls should help figure out if the game is being shown.
  • If none of this works, ask the Tartan Army. Post a question on the General Travel section of the Tartan Army Message Board and you'll probably find somebody who's been there before.
Good luck!
